Knapen Service B.V., formerly Knapen Trailers Service Centre B.V., grew out of Knapen Trailers. In the past, service was located in a corner of the Knapen Trailers plant. The strong growth of moving-floor trailers in Europe required a separate service company. The demand for parts also increased along with the popularity of moving-floor trailers. In 2005 Knapen Trailers Service Centre moved to Dr. Huub van Doorneweg 18 in Deurne as an independent company. In 2005 there were five employees. That number has now more than quadrupled and we have built a state-of-the-art service building at Liesselseweg 141 in Deurne.
The Knapen Service building, built in 2015, has been made completely "emission-free". This is so because the well-insulated building uses a geothermal heat pump to heat in the winter and to cool in the summer.
In 2018 the building's roof was fitted with 1,200 m² of solar panels. Our service workshop uses quite a bit of power. Think for example of heavy equipment such as gantry cranes, welding machines and electric powered AWPs. In total, the solar park generates more than 160,000 kWh annually. The self-generated green power is used for our service workshop, our parts warehouse, our outside premises, our offices and naturally our geothermal heat pump. This way Knapen Service is completely self-sufficient in its energy needs.
